In modern cultures, we tend to eschew ancient wisdom traditions in favor of modern science – an empirically based system of knowledge that largely relies on technology to quantify and explain relative phenomena. One challenge for contemporary science is that it can only understand what it can measure and replicate. However, some phenomena are too subtle or ephemeral for our current technological systems and get thrown in boxes labeled “weird” or “unexplainable”. Shamans and healers possessing more refined awareness and intuition can perceive these phenomena, while mainstream professionals may not grasp more subtle experiences, due to limitations of the five senses and over-reliance on the masculine, logical mind.
Shifts and awakenings in the human subtle energy body – meridians in acupuncture systems and nadis in Ayurveda – can sometimes present as transpersonal crises, mental health concerns, or physical conditions. Surrender of attachments and desires can appear as depression or anhedonia. Fortunately, there are verifiable signposts described in oral and written wisdom traditions that shed light on these experiences and help to rule out specific medical or psychological conditions.
In the East and within certain religious traditions, there are established paths for the spiritually aware and sensitive, usually those of monks, nuns, and renunciates. In the West, the spiritually inclined have fewer options and often face the difficult task of navigating their awakening while also having to function in stressful jobs and family situations - the path of the householder. This can be incredibly taxing on the nervous system.
As a species, we are undergoing unprecedented change and accelerated evolution. Have you noticed this? Some are resisting this global shift and clinging to rigid, egoic structures. Those who work to release attachments and unexamined beliefs will fare better through the transition. Old, ego-mind systems won't optimally serve you moving forward, and grasping externals for stability will lead to more suffering. The peace you are seeking is within your Self; the answers are within your heart. Can you sense this?
Do you believe in Love? What about Truth or Peace? If so, let us begin there and gently inquire into the traumas, conditioning, and choices that separated you from the authenticity of your True Self. It is impossible for Love to cause pain or suffering, however, our erroneous beliefs about Love do create pain and feelings of separation. When we incorrectly believe Love is something it is not, we reject it or push it away. In doing so, we reject our own nature.
I've apprenticed with a master psychologist and Christian teacher for more than 14 years investigating the science of enlightenment (i.e. Theosis) through grounded, empirically-based, inner work centered in Christ. What I offer is not book knowledge or untested theories but real-world tools and techniques that simplify mental health and personal transformation.
